Cleveland clinical therapist, acting coach, actress and singer Andrea Carroll (DeCapite) recorded "Please Don't Talk To The Lifeguard" (Sylvia Dee - George Goehring) in 1961. Sylvia Dee also wrote "Too Young" while George Goehring attained fame with "Lipstick On Your Collar".

Diane Ray became a one-hit wonder in 1963 when she recorded the top forty hit "Please Don't Talk To The Lifeguard" a little more up-tempo than the original. The single was strong enough to warrant the album "The Exciting Years". Diane was discovered by Shelby Singleton when he was judging a talent competition in North Carolina. The record was produced by Jerry Kennedy.
