"Green Rocky Road" originally was a black children's folk song. The lyric "Hooka Tooka Soda Cracka" was probably added from the British children's counting rhyme "Icka Backa Soda Cracker". Judy Henske sang this at a 1963 Chicago "Hootenanny". This track is longer than usual because of the informative and entertaining preamble.
The same year Chubby Checker (Ernest Evans) had a top ten with just the "Hooka Tooka" (E. Evans) part and a different arrangement. Years ago Chubby was in town and signed my copy of his record "Chubby's Folk Album" containing the hit.
