This is Hoagy Carmichael and the original "Lazy River" (Carmichael - Arodin) recorded in 1930. Jimmy Dorsey is on clarinet, Tommy Dorsey's trombone and Joe Venuti playing violin.

The Mills Brothers (details elsewhere on this blog) "Lazy River" hit the top twenty with this version from 1952.

Trombonist and big band leader Si (Simon) Zentner and his orchestra brough "Up a Lazy River" back into the publiuc spotlight with this wondersful top forty version from 1961, a time when big bands were definitely out of style. Si recorded with the likes of Andre Kostelanetz, Les Brown, Jimmy Dorsey and Harry James.

The Versatile Bobby Darin had the biggest modern day hit with "Lazy River" peaking at number fourteen the same year as the Si Zentner issue.
