A Sluice gate which controls a rhyne at its junction with the North Drain, This is at the northern extreme of the Somerset Levels and Moors which have long been shaped both by human history and natural processes, they have an area of about 160,000 acres (650 km2) They consist 0f a flat landscape extending across parts of the north and centre of the historical county of Somerset,,,,, Rhyne is a somerset spelling !! HFF and a good weekend to all.!.....................Large view may be good for detail!

Jacks Drove on the Northern edge of the Somerset Levels with the hamlet of Heath House visible on the ridge,In this view an unnamed Rhyne (foreground) meets the North Drain with the combined waters flowing under under Jacks Drove (bridge just visible on the left) On the Levels Roads are called Droves and maintained watercourses are locally known as Viewed Rhynes. These total 1492 km, Image in 16.9 format therefor a large view is recommended, HFF to all ! A wide angle view of a small section of the flat lands that are the Somerset Levels, . The levels have an area of 160,000 area (650 km2) with the majority of land just above sea level, This waterway is the North Drain so called because that's what they do, drain the levels., they are fed by a series of Rhynes pronunced Reens (Ditches) which surround almost every pasture. Originally captured for World Photography Day HFF and a good weekend,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, in 16.9 format so a large view recommended,

The object flying above the north drain on the Somerset levels in the evening sunlight is unknown to me although I vaguely remember a helecopter in the area but what ever it was it had little effect on the swan population.
