A capture from my Panasonic pocket camera, This is West Bower Manor (also known as Durleigh Manor) taken from the western bank of Durleigh Reservoir, The principal surviving element is a substantial 15th-century gatehouse in Decorated-Perpendicular style, forming the north side of what was once a courtyard house. It features a rectangular plan with an east wing, polygonal turrets added later (with glass bearing initials possibly of Alexander and Margaret Hody), (Grok x) Large view welcome, ,,,,,,, HWW, to all!

The inner basin of Bridgwater Docks, this is now a marina waiting for renovations to start, The lock gates in the foreground marks the start of the Bridgwater and Taunton Canal at the other end (behind the moon) is a link to the outer basin and entrance to the River Parrett, Historic Port of Bridgwater that was operational between 1845 and 1971 (although boats operated from 1348), Pip1 = Banner about the artist, Pip 2 = The moon at night! HFF!

The Rope Walk

Bridgwater is a seaport situated on the tidal estuary of the river Parrett, and has been involved in ship building for centuries. Rope making was an important part of shipbuilding and the town had at least 6 rope walks,,,,,,, HBM. This is the site of the last boatyard in the town and the final launch was in 1907 with the ketch IRENE, She is still in sail and details for anyone interested, www.nationalhistoricships.org.uk/register/469/irene

A footpath on Lydeard Hill with a slightly lopsided tree and a fence protecting an area with a steep drop, This is a part of the Quantock Hills ANOB and is very popular with many visitors. the grass areas are managed by red deer and the free roaming Quantock Ponies. Large view recommended if you are able

October on Somerset's Quantock Hills and a late afternoon walk in peace and quiet along the popular Lydeard hill ridge, The fence is to keep free roaming ponies from the step drops into the Vale otherwise the area left as semi wild habitat.
