A view across The Kyle of Tongue to Ben Loyal, Ben Loyal is composed chiefly of granite, specifically syenite,[2] and has a distinctive shape due to the four rocky peaks, the highest of which is called An Caisteal. To the north of An Caisteal is the 712 m Sgòr Chaonasaid, to the south is Bheinn Bheag (744 m), and to the west is the ridge of Sgòr a Chèirich, 644 m at its highest point. The fourth peak in the picture is the 568 m Sgòr Fionnaich. (Wikipdia) This is the second of my today's posts to the group "North West 500 Group"

To give the image a size perspective, The black line across the center of the image and the bridge to the right carries the Main A838 Road across the Kyle of Tongue, This road is a part of the North Coast 500 scenic route around the top of Scotland, The mountains on he left are a part of the Ben Loyal range. This is my first of today's addition to the group, "North West 500"

A peek over the wall to the hillside, and it's beautiful light across the Kyle of Tongue, a sea loch on Scotland's far North Coast; Large may be good, HWW.

The tidal Kyle of Tongue in Sutherland with a cloud capped Ben Loyal as a backdrop, Traffic crosses the Kyle on a causeway which forms part of the A838 North Coast 500 Road around the top of the country, and is listed as one of the most amazing and beautiful drives around Scotland. (This bench is in one of two picnic areas part way across the causeway) The Kyle which is listed as a sea loch starts at Tongue Bay on the north coast and stretches inland for 7 miles (11 km) In 16.9 format, so a large view is recommended Pip 1 The Sign, Pip 2 The Causeway

The tidal Kyle of Tongue showing the causeway which carries the main A838 coastal road which combined with the A836 forms a major part of the North Coast 500 route around the top of the country, Ben Loyal range in the background, and this image was taken from the Melness side of the Kyle. This area has a good reputation for catching the Northern Lights. Please view large, and I wish everyone HFF and a great weekend.

The ancient seat of the clan Mackay was at Castle Varrich, there are supposedly caves under the castle which is estimated to have been built in the 14th century. I prefer the image large, and please note the heather on the high ground. This is another from the North Coast 500 Series
