Another view of Ben Nevis, this time from across the Corpach Basin and Loch Linnhe.
The Corpach basin is at the western end of the Caledonian Canal, vessels heading east face a staircase lock comprising eight locks on the Canal. Built by Thomas Telford between 1803 and 1822, it is the longest staircase lock in Britain, and known as "Neptune's Staircase"

The English translation, Is "The pinnacle of pool river" it has a height 612m (2008ft)
The rocky crest is of Torridon sandstone and is a nunatak, (the ridge was above the ice during the last Ice age) which is why the sides are smooth, and the ridge has many pinnacles.

It's May and the last of the winter snow still hangs on the northern slopes of the Stob Ghebhar Ridge 3,580ft (1090 m) which is a part of the Scottish Highlands Black Mountain group,

Looking across the Kyle of Tongue from Melness Cemetery car park, a sandbar and beach visible at low tide, the Kyle is a 7-mile-long Sea Loch

The tidal Kyle of Tongue in Sutherland with a cloud capped Ben Loyal as a backdrop,
Traffic crosses the Kyle on a causeway which forms part of the A838 North Coast 500 Road around the top of the country, and is listed as one of the most amazing and beautiful drives around Scotland. (This bench is in one of two picnic areas part way across the causeway)
The Kyle which is listed as a sea loch starts at Tongue Bay on the north coast and stretches inland for 7 miles (11 km)
In 16.9 format, so a large view is recommended

Ben Loyal 764 m (2506.5 ft) is a Corbett which is the name given to a mountain in Scotland that is between 2,500 and 3000 feet in height, but it must also have a 500-foot drop on all sides,
This was captured just outside the village of Tongue on the A838 which forms a part of the North Coast 500 around the top of Scotland,
This is also just prior to the start of the 3.8 km (2.361 miles) causeway across the tidal Kyle of Tongue,

Isleornsea, Isle of Skye and a distant Squrr na Coinnich (translation Peak of moss) 2,425ft (739m) mountain which is the highest point on the Sleat peninsula, The waterway crossing the image is the narrow fast flowing Kylehrea Straits which separates the Island from the mainland.
