Lots of Fences around this marina section of the inner harbour at Wick in Caithness, Construction of Wick Harbour began in 1803 and was completed by 1811. It soon became a bustling port and a major player in the Herring fishing industry, In a street just behind the camera lives the Old Pulteney Distillery which is an aging malt whisky production facility in Pulteneytown. The distillery has a visitor centre in Huddart Street, and produces the Old Pulteney Single Malt whisky! worth a visit if you have the time! HFF and a good weekend, large if you are able please!

The 9-mile-long canal links the Sound of Jura to Loch Gilp for access to the Clyde Estuary thus avoiding the long trek around Kintyre especially the exposed Mull of Kintyre ! A part of the 35 acre Crinan wood forms the backdrop Wish you a nice Friday and a good weekend,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Large for detail please !

Ardrishaig is a coastal village on Loch Gilp, at the southern (eastern) entrance to the Crinan Canal in Argyll and Bute in the west of Scotland. It lies immediately to the south of Lochgilphead, with the nearest larger town being Oban. (Wikipedia) A day that varied between bright sunshine and cloud cover, but fortunately the light stayed reasonable even during the cloudy periods,------- A large view recommended if possible! We were based very close by and a for a while this was Our Town www.youtube.com/watch?v=sI6DBIvyEMI

Waiting for the Tide

It's documentation in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle is proof that the port at Porlock Weir has been in existance for over a thousand years and as one of the few places small ships can land along the rugged Exmoor coast it has had a varied history. The huge tidal range in the Bristol Channel means everything is left high and dry at low water while the houses in the image which are on the shingle bank between sea and harbour regularly have sand bags at the ready.
