Dalveen Toll Cottage is a historic toll house located in a remote, scenic spot in the Southern Uplands of Scotland. It sits at the southern end of the picturesque Dalveen Pass on the A702 road, in Dumfries and Galloway, near the hamlet of Durisdeermill . The area is part of the Lowther Hills, known for its dramatic hilly landscapes, passes, and rural beauty, Note the trees sheltering the cottage from the cold winter winds that blow up through the pass! HFF and a great first weekend of the New Year!

This is on the edge of The Meads which is a floodplane close to the center of town, it is allowed to flood a number of times each winter to protect the town and water is then pumped away when watercourses can cope with extra capacity, during the dry season cattle graze on the lush grass however this fence was not erected with enough strength to allow for cattle having a good rub , In the distance are the lower reaches of the Quantock Hills, A large view would be appreciated.
