It's a prominent medieval parish church often called the "Cathedral of the Moors" due to its impressive size and grandeur relative to the surrounding low-lying Somerset Levels landscape. The church is Grade I listed by Historic England, The main structure visible today dates primarily from around 1300, featuring elements like the lower tower stages, transepts, and nave in a transitional Norman-to-Gothic style.
