Monte Gordo, plastic out of place
|

These days, we're constantly being made to feel guilty about our plastic consumption. But wouldn't the first step be to stop making the objects we're forced to use (packaging, etc.) and those we are made to buy almost compulsory, such as toys to be disposed after at most a day of use and other futile items?
When I was growing up, we used to play with anything on the beach: sand sculptures, shell assemblies, drift wood constructions, etc.
Now people need all kinds of useless things like that not to feel bored.
Let's do something about it!

The only “palace hotel” in the Algarve, and part of the select club of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, is now revealed in all its splendour, providing a unique experience in the south of the Portugal.
Characterised by the rich and decorative architecture resulting from the restoration of a 19th century palace, while preserving its original features, the Pousada Palácio de Estoi has 63 rooms, French-style gardens, an outdoor swimming pool with a view of the sea and the mountains, as well as all the amenities of the 21st century.
The Reception area is located in the old Chapel, which, with its Luís XV style, is dedicated to the Sagrada Família. In collaboration with the Faro Municipal Museum, the old reception area will now host a new space for exhibitions forming part of a museum collection dedicated to the history of the region and its various : Roman, Islamic and classic influences.
The mix of Neoclassical, Neorococó and Art Nouveau styles continues to be visible in every corner of this Pousada, including its salons, which now feature more classic furniture, a new colour palette that harmonises with the frescoes and two distinct languages in the two restaurant areas, serving lunch and dinner in a variety of themes, in addition to a new outdoor deck.

For SC103- post 7 July - Characterful building
www.ipernity.com/group/daysincolour365
Casa Dona Maria, also known as Palacete Colaço, is a historic building in the town of Castro Verde, in the Baixo Alentejo region of Portugal.
Description and history
The property consists of a manor house, a large private dwelling, accessed from Rua Fialho de Almeida. It is considered one of the town's ex-libris and one of the most outstanding buildings in the historic centre of Castro Verde, due to its architectural richness, especially on the rear façade. In fact, its concrete construction allowed for the installation of various elements that were considered innovative for the time. The exterior features a miscellany of elements in various styles, such as windows and doors with a neo-Gothic, neo-Manueline and neo-Islamic appearance, small towers and balconies with various levels, which were originally intended to be glazed to function as cages. Inside, the fountains, fountains, stained glass windows, skylights and prettified cement elements, which simulate the effects of marble and wood, stand out.
It was built in the 1920s by wealthy farmer Álvaro Romano Colaço, during a period of great expansion of cement as a building material. In 2017, the video clip Fadinho Alentejano by fado singer Ricardo Ribeiro was premiered, which was partly filmed at Casa Dona Maria, with the collaboration of Álvaro Romano Colaço's heirs.
