Some really poignant images of this tragic scene Colin.

I'm assuming this is a protected site as there is still a vast amount of wreckage lying around.

No Keith its all on open Moorland and its a strange business - revered by some and over the years raided by others for souvenirs. When I first visited it in the late 1960s and for next few decades, very little of it was visible and there was no marker or memorial stone. At that time and for many years some larger parts (engines and wings) were visible but much of it had been buried. Its obvious now that some people including trophy hunters and photographers (?) have actually excavated and moved wreckage around for effect. A sad sight at a sad site (sic)
