Wir sehen hier nur einen Teil der Sternwarten. Das Roque-de-los-Muchachos-Observatorium ist ein gemeinsames Projekt vieler europäischer Staaten. Einige Staaten haben ein eigenes Observatorium, andere betreiben ein Gemeinsames. Auf Teneriffa stehen weitere Gebäude. Bewohner gibt es hier oben nicht. Wegen der Lichtverschmutzung hat man diesen Ort, weit ab jeglicher menschlicher Zivilisation, gewählt.
