Wow, what a sight! I love seeing the city in the distance, so far away that they are within a haze. And the kite surfers are so cool to see! I have always wanted to do that, so it's great fun to watch them, or in this case, to see them in action! :) The caps on the water point to a very windy day, I wonder if it was as chilly as the waves make it seem! The beautiful clouds in the sky and enormous expanse of water with the city scape behind make this scene so huge and satisfying to look at. NICE presentation, George! :)

Many thanks for your comment, Janet. Although the south easterly was indeed blowing strongly, it was quite warm - somewhere about 28C/82F.

Like k.e.s._kloset, I can almost feel the wind. The red and yellow relieve all the blue but at the same time organize the photo so you can take the blue section in more quickly. They did for me, anyway. All the best for the weekend.

We were in that area but did not go to see this. Saw the windsurfers near Port Douglas.

From the map it looks to be a fairly safe area for kite surfing. I hope you are enjoying your summertime.

Where is this please? Never having visited Australia, the names you give here are unfamiliar to me! Superb shot anyway!

Thanks, Andy. This is just to the south of Brisbane, near the border of Queensland and New South Wales. The area this was taken is now a suburb of the Gold Coast, a city that has grown from the amalgamation of what once were a series of holiday villages. The Pacific Ocean is just off to the left of the photo, beyond the low line of mangrove trees on a sandy spit island.

Thanks George! Brisbane was the name I wanted. I wouldn't know otherwise if it were Sydney, Perth, Melborne ofr Adelaide! I knew for a fact it wasn't Canberra! I would have guessed Perth, so I'm pleased you put me right! :o)
