Tape measure

Tape measure
Contribution for the Macro Dreams challenge: "unit of measure"

Because modern cameras give a pretty good resolution, they also allow one to crop a lot. I decided to post another contribution to demonstrate this.

I used manual focus set to closest possible. Then I moved the camera to the point when the tape measure on foreground gets focused.

I used the smallest aperture f/11.0 to get as wide depth of field as possible. I used so called daylight lamp to lit the subject, but the AUTO ISO still went up to 2500.

Lebojo, Gudrun, Annemarie and 2 other people have particularly liked this photo

Thank you, Jan =)

I actually somewhat wished to get chance to shoot this tape measure (again) some day. Used it only few times before.

I like both of the versions, but I like this one better because I'm in love with your thimble and this one shows that off more. And it wasn't until I looked at this one that I realized that the metal in the background was a needle with thread.

Those are the things I try to include on my macro shots. The subject (challenge topic) can look good alone, but many times the "prop" makes the image more interesting. And yes, the thimble and the needle pop out better on this one.

The close crop lets you concentrate on the thimble, a very nice decorated one!
