Spring clean

Spring clean
This year I will try to do some cleaning. It means even less groups at Ipernity, removing "bad pictures", giving up entirely on some web sites, and trying to focus on quality instead of quantity.

Yes. I love this. Great resolution too. Remove the excess. Simplify, similar to my own resolution. Bravo.
Love the set up shot.

Sehr gut, Sami! Das Smartphone sollte man vielleicht besser ganz wegwischen. Ich habe seit kurzem eins, es nervt mich und ich und hasse es, aber für eine endgültige Entscheidung ist die Zeit noch zu kurz.

It depends on how and what for you use it ;-)

But the most important lesson I have learned is that one has to try before judging. I have now tried number of camera phone features and applications, and many social media aspects. Therefore it is easier to know what really works for me and what doesn't.

Hey, nice idea!! I love the creative solution here. Also, thanks for providing the how you did it picture, I love that!

Also, thanks for your suggestion for my droplet pictures as a vertical--yeah, that is a good idea, but my problem is that I don't like to make my pictures verts because the size is smaller for the viewer...so I try to keep them horizontal. But yes, vertical would suit a droplet better in regards to direction of flow. :) Thanks for your input, I love that! :)

Then my advice is to forget the viewer! =D

What YOU see yourself (your personal vision) is more important! Besides there are also those who view the images on vertical screens ;-)

Anyway, I personally often think especially the choice of aspect ratio and choice between horizontal and vertical. For example I once had a long argument with one other amateur photographer, whether landscape shots should be landscape (horizontal) or if vertical composition would be better. I personally like especially vertical landscape shots where is some point of interest on foreground, and then the "context" like forest and/or mountains on background. In my opinion it makes me feel the view more immersive.

Good point to forget the viewer...of course I do that for the most part--and I do post verts, just not as much! You're right though, some folks...many folks, are viewing on a phone...I forgot about that! :)

Vert or horizontal landscapes...well, I think it is entirely dependent on the landscape. So sometimes one is going to be better than the other. :)

Sehr guter Vorsatz, Sami !
Ich staune ohnehin seit Jahren, WIE Du das überhaupt alles schaffst: Job, Familie ... und Deine allseitige Präsenz in den "Social Media".
Ich denke, dieses "Tanzen auf allen Festen" geht nur bei einem Photoholic wie Dir;

I like how you have illustrated this! A perfect new year resolution, we should all think about this. I have been wanting to reduce the number of groups for ages and never have got round to it;-)

Some recommendations:

When you quit some group, it is polite to send a notice to that group admin(s). So, they get an explanation why a group member departs.

Another option is to make an illustrated post about it on your photo stream, like I more or less did here. Then a group admin possibly getting a notice that the user has left the group, finds the explanation there on your album. Image post is better than article, because it looks like people usually don't much follow the articles.

Or do the both ;-)

I'm a member in too many groups... It will be an awful lot of work to write to all the admins, an article definitely would be easier. So far I have left groups where the admins haven't been active for a long time so there wasn't any need to be polite;-)

Indeed! And that was the same problem I had two years ago when I wrote this:
www.ipernity.com/blog/serola/4643224

Now that I have only 9 groups, it so much easier to contribute and also be more active on those few involvements of mine =)
