Looks a pretty village green Rosa but must confess I have never heard of Ashmore.

Do you know Zig-Zag Hill near Shaftesbury Jeff or the nearby airfield? It's not far from there. It is a pretty village.

Is that the village green Rosa? a lovely place and a very nice capture, I had to look this up it's a new one for me.

Although it's deceiving from this angle it is quite a large village pond Roger. It's not a place you would just find yourself passing through. You would have to choose to go there.

A beautiful image of time has stood still rural England, with the sun so low you get some very long shadows at this time of the year but in six weeks will be round the corner hurtling back towards the sun !!!!!!!!!!! I hope your week has stated well Rosalyn

You are right Peter. It is an ancient village with a great community feel to it. They have an annual festival to celebrate the summer solstice called the "Filly Loo" . I have no idea what the name means though! A good week so far...but a long way to go yet :)

I love the left-to-right divide of this image, Rosa. The buildings on the dark left have tiled roofs, and those on the bright left have thatch. A well balanced composition. Cheers, Joe

A really cracking composition Rosa. The old cottages either side of the image focus the viewers eyes onto the body of the scene very nicely. I love the strong colours and the good contrast between the shadowed area and the autumn tones of the trees illuminated by the light.

Thank you Sarah. It is said that the pond has been there since Roman times and has never dried out. We thought it was pretty big when we were kids, and called it a lake ;-))
