Thank you, I appreciate it. I find architecture very hard to photograph well, so I'm pleased people like this one.

These venerable architectural and ornamental details are captivating, and you present them in a sensible format that allows them to be studied in detail.

Thanks, Eric. There is so much there, so many different pieces. I find it easier to explore them all now then when I was standing there.

I didn't spot that you'd been in England this summer, Laura! Hope the weather wasn't too hot!

raingirl club has replied to Andy Rodker club
We were early enough in the summer that we missed that really hot time.

I haven't been posting my England images. I mostly took snapshots and I took a ton of them! We were gone for about a month and I just kept taking photos. Probably a few more will show up here once I've really gone through them to pick out the more interesting places and better done photos.

It was very impressive. An Abbey that later was used for a "home" - lots of history of course.

How wonderful...Steve and I went to Provence for a month some years ago (deciding against going to Paris and its frenticness...we want to visit Paris by itself sometime) and I've only managed to process pictures from our first two days...lol...at Nice, which was amazing! Europe is so overwhelming and different, so much to see and to appreciate. It's all so much to contemplate, including the incredible age of everything like this church. TY for the image, and the sweeping memories of the zillions of cathedrals and churches we saw on our visit too!

I came back from England & Paris this time with an overwhelming sense of the deep history of it all. Our very few years of having cities in Oregon seem almost trite in comparison. But then I remember that we simply don't have many remnants of the peoples who were here before us immigrants to Oregon and that they had a very long history here before us. And also I remember the geological history that is huge here - especially the Columbia gorge and the Willamette valley. It is just a completely different type of history.

Glad you have travelled beyond the states. It helps us humans have more perspective on the world and how fascinating and beautiful other ways of existing can be. It helps us see our own way of existing in a new light.

thank you - it was indeed great architecture. I was so surprised that for some time after its first Abbey life it was home for a family. Henry Talbot to be exact! Do you know that name? It's considered to be the birthplace of photography in England "Country house with monastic roots, once home to William Henry Fox Talbot, inventor of the photographic negative".

Hi Laura
A wonderful and interesting picture, which I like very much!
If I had known that you were coming to England....!
Lackock is a very pretty little village. I have visited there a few times.
Best Wishes, a nice weekend, and stay safe!!

Thank you. Really glad you like it.

Ah yes, going to England. I was in a daze about it (I had a very hard beginning of year and it all culminated in the long delayed trip). I didn't even get to see all my "in person" friends I have in the area, but did do some amazing things. I wish I could have had an ipernity gathering!
