Macro Mondays - topic for Mo. 20.07.2020: "My own profession" My own profession has changed a lot during my career. The pencil and the computer mouse should symbolize this. The red colour stands for corrections. But also for changes; for adjustments, for finding new solutions. And the ruler stands for the accuracy that my profession requires. Maybe you can guess what I am (If you do not already know). ;-)

Happy Fence Friday ! From here one has numerous possibilities to do a glacier hike. "Diavolezza" means "she-devil" in the Rhaeto-Romanic language. The name comes from a legend: Many years ago a wonderful mountain fairy lived at Munt Pers ("lost mountain", Rhaeto-Romanic). She was seldom seen by hunters and was often admired when she crossed the slopes of the Munt Pers to "Lej da la Diavolezza" (Lake of the She-devil) to take a bath. Then the young hunters became careless. They followed her over the rocks to her castle. But one hunter after the other disappeared. And so it happened to Aratsch, a young man from the village. Everywhere they looked for him in vain and finally they assumed he had fallen into a crevasse or crashed down. For those who were in the region at nightfall, carried by the wind, heard the plaintive voice of Diavolezza calling out: "Mort ais Aratsch!" (Aratsch is dead). Havanna – Parque John Lennon Die Musik der Beatles war zwar in Kuba einst verboten, aber trotzdem sitzt ein berühmter Beatle als Bronzestatue verewigt auf einer Bank in diesem Park in Havanna. Als die Beatlemania die Welt in den 1960ern eroberte, verbot Fidel Castro die Musik in seinem Land, die er als „vulgären Konsumerismus“ ansah. Vierzig Jahre später und 20 Jahre nach dem Tod von John Lennon ehrte Castro den Sänger nicht nur für seine Musik, sondern hauptsächlich für seine Träume und Ideen. Wahrscheinlich nicht auch zuletzt wegen der USA-Kritik von John Lennon gegen dem Vietnamkrieg. John Lennon selber war nie auf Kuba. Der kubanische Künstler José Villa Soberón entwarf die Skulptur Lennons am Ende einer Bank, wodurch genug Platz bleibt, sich neben ihn zu setzen und ein Bild zu machen. Am Fuss der Bank steht die spanische Übersetzung einer Liedzeile aus John Lennons berühmtem Song "Imagine": „You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one.“ Ein witziges Detail: Nachdem die ursprüngliche runde Kultbrille mehrere Male gestohlen wurde, erklärte sich der Rentner Juan Gonzalez dazu bereit, tagsüber in 12-Stunden-Schichten bei Bedarf eine Brille für Fotos zur Verfügung zu stellen. Auch heute noch (selber erlebt!) steht jemand in der Nähe der Bank, um der Statue eine Brille aufzusetzen und Lennon auf den Fotos ein authentisches Aussehen zu verleihen, sobald Touristen kommen und ein Foto machen wollen. ► ♫ ♪ "Imagine", John Lennon (23.13185, -82.39979); [350°] – OpenTopoMap

Albert Einstein in Bern. – (PiP) Albert Einstein heiratete am 06. Januar 1903 seine Frau Mileva Marić in Bern und wohnte vom Oktober 1903 bis Mai 1905 in der Berner Altstadt an der Kramgasse 49, dem heutigen Einsteinhaus, in dem heute ein Museum untergebracht ist. Während dieser Zeit arbeitete er am Patentamt in Bern und erarbeitete nebenbei die Grundlagen für die weltberühmte Relativitätstheorie. Im Jahr 2017 wurden an vier Standorten in Bern Sitzbänke mit einer Statue von Albert Einstein aufgestellt: bei der Universität, im Rosengarten, beim Bärenpark und hier beim Historischen Museum. Nepal – Porter in Larjung. The village of Kobang / Larjung is located at an altitude of 2550 m on the western bank of the river Kali Gandaki in the south of the district. Kowang borders Lete in the south and Tukuche in the north. The village is located at the Annapurna Circuit on the road to Jomsom 20 km further north. The Sherpa ("Eastern people") are a people who immigrated to the central and southern Himalayas 300 to 400 years ago. The name of the people comes from Tibetan: "shar" means "East", and the suffix "pa" means "people". The female form is Sherpani (plural Sherpanis). Today there are about 180'000 Sherpas. They live mainly in eastern Nepal and in the border regions of China and India. Most of them are Buddhist and speak a language that is unique to their culture, which is also called Sherpa. Since many porters are recruited from the Sherpa people, the porters are often simply called 'Sherpa', although there are porters from other peoples as well.
