Daniela, tja, das kommt ab und zu wieder mal vor.

Man kann gerade noch so die erste niedrige Bergkette erahnen, aber die diesige Stimmung hat auch was:-)

Gudrun, ja, fand ich eben auch.
Im Sommer oder Herbst, wenn viel Feuchtigkeit in der Luft ist, kann es auch zu solch diesigen Stimmungen auf weite Distanz kommen. Das führt dann oft zu ► solchen Sichten.

That is indeed something I have never before even imagined! I do recall and understand similar even global effects after volcanic eruptions, but sand storms in Sahara can also have affect so far is amazing! Makes me wonder how bad the quality of air then is somewhere closer.

Here we more or less suffer for the dust caused by all the gravel spread on the roads during the winter. Because of cars grinding the gravel even smaller, the air is full of dust in early spring.

Sami, It can happen that in the morning one sees yellow-red dust lying everywhere on the car roofs. This can be quite spooky. But it hasn't been that extreme for a longer time now.

The phenomenon of dust from unpaved roads is not so familiar here. In the meantime (unfortunately) the most of our roads are tarred.

Maybe I need to explain some more ;-)

Most of the roads are asphalt also here. But during the winter months, it has became common to spread gravel on the roads because of ice and snow. But then also studs must be used on car tires during winter. Then especially in March and April, cars with studded tires grind the asphalt and that gravel into dust. And before people are allowed to switch to "summer tires", and roads become cleaned from all that gravel and dust, it is sometimes almost like in Sahara. And the spring cleaning of city streets is often called as "operation sandstorm"...
