Have a horrific Halloween!!

Have a horrific Halloween!!
Some skeleton and smoke brushes from Photoshop Creative added to what is largely an exercise in Photoshop filters & effects.

, Jean Louis Mazieres have particularly liked this photo

Cleverly done Phil ... shades of the Batman logo creeping into that frame! ;)

BTW, those smoke brushes, do you need to buy them separately or are they in Photoshop to start with? :)

Thanks, Paul. The frame's shape originated from one of the earlier 'lotus' abstracts and when it was turned black it did look a bit bat-cavish.
The smoke brushes were ones which I got on Photoshop Creative's cover CD. They now use a coded online 'File silo' to hand out their resources each month. I have looked through the PSE 10 brushes menus and can't see any smoke there.
If you Google 'free Photoshop smoke brushes' you will find quite a number of options. You need to be aware that some are dedicated to particular versions of PS or Elements. I download resources to folders on my external hard-drive, as the brush & texture files can eat up storage space and make your PC run slow, if you have a lot. The other thing to note is that a lot of resources files come in Zip files, so you need to have an unzip facility.
When you go to change your brushes, you go to the menu accessed by the double >> and use the load button which will then let you go through your files to find the relevant set of brushes - which usually have an 'abr' suffix. Click open and they should appear in the 'brushes' pop-up menu.
You can make your own brushes if you find suitable graphics. If you put a marquee around your image and go to the main 'edit' menu and click on 'Define brush from selection' it will make a brush which you can use like any other. You may have to play around to get the size right as some can result in a huge file and some can be so small that they pixelate when you try to use them larger. You will be asked if you want to save your new brush - I suggest you set up a separate folder called 'Paul's brushes' or something similar and save your most frequently used brushes their. ('My brushes' can be a confusing label as this sometimes occurs in PS elsewhere.
I hope this is helpful rather than massively confusing. Good luck!
