Gulls, ducks etc., in the Cuckmere Valley beside Friston Forest - 16.12.2011

Gulls, ducks etc., in the Cuckmere Valley beside Friston Forest - 16.12.2011
This was a very mixed flock of birds - mainly Black-backed and Herring Gulls, with Magpies and Rooks wandering in and out. The Shelduck were nearer Friston Forest. The Curlews are not visible at all in this shot and are not very distinct in a closer shot of this group, but I have seen them here this year for the first time. However this is more about how the valley looks at this time of year. There were sizeable numbers of Canada Geese out of shot to the left.

Ah, I remember driving by that forest some years ago now phil. I long to revisit this corner of our country. Well done.

Thanks for sharing with our UK Landscape Photography Group , Herb

These winter visitors' numbers are now vastly reduced. Maybe the climate where they come from is milder now and they don't need to come south for their winter breaks.
