Firle Tower
The Dock, Firle

I returned to Firle village from Firle Park along a street named "The Dock", which could almost be somewhere in Central France.
X X S (H)

Tie rods (which have several other names), are used to stabilise the external walls of older buildings. They are usually given a bit of decoration: here we have two X-shapes and an S.
The H is the fire hydrant.
Beddingham Hill

I walked up the track to South Downs Way at the top of Beddingham Hill.
Behind me are the radio masts on top of the hill.
Firle Church and the Downs
|
|
Firle is a private estate in the South Downs near Lewes, with an ancient church at its heart.
The View West

The aerials are at Beddingham Hill (where I joined the South Downs Way) and beyond that, the view goes on to Devils Dyke and further (perhaps as far as Chanctonbury Ring?)

Can't venture far these days, so it's time to practice a bit with the macro lens. I've not even left the house for this one!
Horsted Keynes Phone Box

|
Spring is arriving, so here's some daffodils and a phone box in an English village.

Heading home and I spotted this - works much better in black and white I think, mostly because I just snapped it and the camera gave it more colour than I really wanted.
The Pump on Brockham Green

Frequently awarded the prize for best-kept village in Surrey; the pump has been restored in recent years, although there is, apparently, no evidence that it has ever actually pumped any water.
