Maggie, yes you are broadly correct but I have discovered that Elgar is known in France and Spain, especially for the two pieces you mention! Elgar has been a favourite composer of mine since I was knee high to a grasshopper and I still hold him in high affection.

Great to see you back Maggs. Hope you are doing well. A super shot that has given me an extra smile this week. Any mention of Elgar does that to me. When I was a child my younger brother came home and asked for help with his homework. He said, failing to mention it was a music assignment, he had to write an essay about Helga! I kept asking him if he was sure and he was insistent that he was right. The only Helga I could think of was the rather controversial film of that name about the birth of a baby. I had not seen it but how hard could it be? I wrote his essay and caused untold merriment at his school when it was read and handed around the staff room. He of course should have been writing about Elgar!! He was told to do his own homework in future!!!
