I've had a couple of these for years now Roland. They currently live in my bathroom.

I'm sure I remember seeing sea urchin shells for sale with other kinds of shells in sea front shops when I was a child. I wonder if these shops still exist and whether you can still buy them?

I was lucky enough to live in Malta for a couple of years in the early 70's and I was given two of these by a local fisherman. They currently live in my bathroom.

I'm sure I've seen them for sale as well though.

I see some every day on the beach, but not so beautifully clean !

I was lucky to have these emptied and cleaned for me..........the locals eat the contents raw!

It does indeed Frank.............but when it is alive it is covered in very long sharp spikes, which it uses to move around.

Schon als Kind fand ich diese Seeigelgehäuse faszinierend.
