Aggregates Wharf, Bedhampton

Aggregates Wharf, Bedhampton
This wharf and storage site is situated right on the edge of a local coastal park. It's been there ever since I can remember and does a roaring trade in marine dredged aggregates. Although it's a bit of an eyesore it can also be quite photogenic (if you like that sort of thing) and it doesn't seem to bother the wildlife. You can see a barge and it's towing boat moored up at the moment.

Best viewed large, I think.

In the PiP is another shot I took of it about 10 years ago if you're interested.

Richard Crépy, Frans Schols, David G Johnson, Rosalyn Hilborne and 12 other people have particularly liked this photo

A wonderful pair of industrial images and interesting notes, Keith
Hard-working vessels that look a little low on maintenance
but it's good to see the red duster flying from the mast
Have a good New Year!

Really glad you like these Roger..............thank you. To be honest these two vessels have looked like this for years, but they seem to do the job. I doubt anyone actually cares what they look like as long as they hold water :-)))

Have a good New Year yourself mate!

I do like an interesting boat Keith and this in my view is pretty interesting! Your PiP demonstrates just how things can look different in another light and edit process. Out of the two I like that one the best but they are both good.

Happy New Year. Herb

Maybe not the nicest place..........but as you say, the gravel is needed.

These things are needed and I like the pictures you have captured very much. We do tend to concentrate of the pretty things. The wildlife adapts to most things.

You can't beat a bit of an eyesore Keith,.. the 'pip' reminds of the ''Grim places'' group within the old 'Panoramio'..... I used to enjoy it - because it was always easy to find some 'grim place' !!

It's proof that it's not only "grim oop North David :-)))
