Parmiters World Famous Antiques

Parmiters World Famous Antiques
Another image from Albert Road in Southsea, Hampshire. (in this case at the junction with Exmouth Street). Once again demonstrating the eclectic mix of independent businesses, and building styles.

Taken in 16:9 format, so best viewed large for best effect.

Keith !.. an intriguing and colourful scene.. - I don't remember much of the town, but a pal and myself visited Southsea.. on motor scooters from Sheffield.. it would be 1962 because we went to see 'Dr.No'...at a cinema.. I'd be 16... we had a weeks' digs, then rode all the way back, its all a distant memory now of course.. // Cheers ' from Dj..

That sounds like fun..............but a long way to ride on a scooter..!! The Mods and Rockers era!

(I was 10 years old in 1962) :-)))

The Magical Time Machine looks like fun - in fact the whole street is a carnival! Super shot, Keith! Either the wind is hurricane force there, or someone has bashed into all of those street barriers! Perhaps too much to drink for going around corners? '-)

The street barrier are exactly as they look...........and as far as I could see they were put in at an angle. It's a very weird place :-)

In the UK sign writing seems to have been a dying art, but apparently there are signs that they are making a comeback and the trade is becoming recognised again............but not in the pure form you may have been used to Jean Paul.

I found quite an interesting article here which gives a job description for a "modern day" signwriter: www.planitplus.net/JobProfiles/View/21/20
