Nice to be be able to upload photos again.............it's been awhile. Like most of you we're currently in in lockdown again and the spread of Covid 19 in the UK is worse now that it's ever been and our movements and chances for social interaction outside our own household are very limited. Hence I will be posting a lot of "not so recently" taken photos. On the plus side, I have a new lens to play with (an Olympus 100-400 f5-6.3mm zoom lens). I'm in the process of learning how to use it properly,

These birds are Dunlin - it's not the sharpest photo, but I like the feeling of movement and speed it invokes. Please view large for best effect.

Taken at Farlington Marshes in Hampshire.

Edit: Thanks for correcting my identification mistake Colin and Alby...........I've now amended my narrative!

neira-Dan, Frans Schols, Jean Paul Capdeville, Petar Bojić and 14 other people have particularly liked this photo

I'm sure this is a great lense which offers a lot of opportunities!
All the best in these strange times. The mutation is already here in Austria too!

Hi Keith, It's good to be back. These birds look like waders rather than duck. I will ask an expert and find out for you.... I am told Dunlin in Winter plumage

Hello Keith, too in today's days you can see what it's like to follow the leader unrestrictedly. (At least in the human race...)

Great to see new photos at last. I love this one. Often see dunlin on the Forth Estuary but I've never managed a decent photo, never mind one in flight.

Wow, nice new lens Keith! I'm still waiting to be able to get a new, lighter camera. I want to handle one before buying, so I had better be patient!

You have captured the speed and movement beautifully, and the shadows in the water are superb. It looks pretty sharp to me! Perfect framing too.

Take care and stay safe.

Always a good idea to try before you buy Rosa, especially an expensive camera. If you're considering Olympus, they do a thing called Test and Wow: www.olympus.co.uk/site/en/c/cameras_support/test_and_wow/index.html

Excellent in flight capture and lovely shadows Keith, you will be able to get up close and personal with a 400 lens so we look forward to the images when we can get out and about again however that does not look like it's going to be anytime soon.

La photo est trés intéréssante car chaque oiseau montre un stade different du mouvement d'aile. On a tous le temps d'observer le ralenti. Bien amicalement. Jean Paul
