I'm pretty sure this is an immature male Ruddy Darter. Captured in my neighbour's garden.

Special K, Gudrun, Ernest CH, and 19 other people have particularly liked this photo

I don't know much about the names Keith, but this is a fabulous, sharp image! I had a blue one in the garden this morning but it darted about so much....impossible to get a shot at it.

Well done, an impressive picture.

Well captured. I spent a good few minutes chasing a dragonfly yesterday afternoon never caught up with it but saw enough to say it was a Southern Hawker. I have seen a Darter like this before but never been quite sure of the ID

Dragonflies are always landing on something, but what are they doing? I can't figure it out. I mean, you can see that a butterfly or a bee has a project of some kind: juice and pollen, respectively.

Anyway, it's a fabulous shot, Keith!

They're ferocious predators of other insects and even very small fish Diane..............they need to have a little rest now and then from killing things!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! *falls over*
Keith, I am green with envy you lucky stinker!! *chases you around, aiming for your shins*
What a SPECTACULAR catch!!! Such wonderful details mated with the perfect dof. Totally awesome. I didn't get the chance to go after insects much this year, kind of a bummer but I'll get my chance I hope! :)

Loved your comments about my trestle pictures and so glad you liked them. LOL, yeah...getting across that bridge was something I wasn't sure I could do. But you know, it was plenty wide enough. The stickler though was having to move off the center area to let others pass. I didn't fancy that one bit, esp because all were strangers and I had to keep my mind from picturing obscure outcomes that included a Superman position before becoming skewered on a treetop far below...eek! :D Personally, I think you would have been just fine getting across...why I might have even held your hand to give you courage! :D

Of course I loved that you enjoyed my more abstract images, those types of pictures are such fun...and you love capturing these as much as I do! :)

Hope you're doing well! :D
