Reed Beds

Reed Beds
Taken this afternoon at Pagham Harbour Nature Reserve (RSPB).

We took the opportunity to go for a walk before the rain set in again. I was quite mild, but very windy with the odd bit of sunshine. There were lots of birds around (we saw three curlews) - all too far away for my lens, but good to watch through binoculars.

Gabriella Siglinde, Susanne Hoy, Diane Putnam, aNNa schramm and 19 other people have particularly liked this photo

What a beautiful wetland site Keith. Although you didn't get a picture of the curlews it must have been wonderful to see them. It has been quite stormy here too, so you did really well to get this stunning shot.

No Andy..........sea water. This is pretty much low tide. The official leaflet from the RSPB describes it as "a sheltered harbour at the heart of the reserve that fills and empties with the tides and changes with each season."

About par for the course for me at the moment, Keith. COMPLETELY wrong on just about everything!

Nice colours and clarity in this lovely wetland capture Keith, I do like wetlands but it has not been possible to find a gap in the storm down here

Es scheint so, als ob die Schilfteppiche auf dem Wasser schwimmen. Du hast das Typische dieser Landschaft gut in Szene gesetzt, Keith!

The sunlight between showers always seems special! Even though you can see that it's windy it looks very tranquil and beautiful. Very well composed with the alternating stripes of reeds and water, I imagine I can hear the cry of the curlews...

Thank you Gudrun. It's a great place for bird watching, but unless you have a very long lens it's not very good for bird photography. Luckily, it's a lovely place to just walk and there are other interesting things (such as this) to take photos of.

Glad you like it.

I like the way how the reed forms islands in the shallow water.

Thank you. They will be pretty much invisible at high tide!
