Wooden Ships

Wooden Ships
Sight and Sound

Sometimes we have to use a tenuous link to our song choice here and I guess this is one of those times for me. I only hope I can make it past the administration. ;)

This is my mom rowing a wooden "ship" around Lake Shinagawa in Michigan, circa 1945.

My song choice "Wooden Ships" is from the 1969 album "Crosby Stills & Nash" that I first heard when I was only 13 and it has remained a favorite album all my life.

Here's a rare demo version: Wooden Ships demo David Crosby

and here is another one: Stephen Stills demo

and here is the 1969 classic:

Wooden Ships or here: Wooden Ships

and finally: Wooden Ships Live

Dani, Nautilus, Gabi Lombardo, autofantasia and 10 other people have particularly liked this photo

Believe it or not I was going to use this track.......I just needed a shot of some 'Wooden Ships' :-))) And, if I could have found a suitable shot I was going to use a live version. Hope the following link works Live Version An astonishing and brilliant perormance! Graham seems quite excitable :-) And, looking at David's eyes makes me think he might have been on another planet!! A beautiful and treasured shot for sure. And, a perfect link to a classic track. Thanks very much for posting to 'Sight and Sound', Karen.

Wow, thanks Roger. I'm going to add the link up on top. That is a great performance and one I'd missed so I appreciate you sharing it. I'm actually surprised we haven't had more CSN & (sometimes Y) in our group. I have a lot of their great music.

Yeah, David looked pretty messed up in that video even though he kept it together pretty well. I read his book "Long Time Gone" and it was so good, but sad that he had to go through all that. I'm so glad he made it through.

Yes, it is very surprising we haven't had more CSN & (sometimes Y) in our group. I was thinking about using "Cinnamon Girl" by CSN&Y as follows :-)
Cinnamon Girl
I have one or two photos of girls taken in Oxford but I don't know if any of them are Cinnamon Girls :-))) I didn't know about the book "Long Time Gone". Yes, it is brilliant that David made it through.

Good to see them all together Roger.

You know, I've never known what a "Cinnamon Girl" was exactly. ;)

Only if you're one of them. ;)

It's weird, sometimes when I look in the mirror I see my mom looking back at me (albeit older versions of us both.) I always thought she was pretty too. Thanks Wendi.

Gee, I wonder who? lol. ;)

She's cute huh? She was the only girl with 5 brothers so she could do anything they did and was a bit of a "tomboy." Merci beaucoup Isabelle!
