The Sunday Challenge - HDR

The Sunday Challenge - HDR
TSC: HDR photography

For this challenge I used 3 different online editors to show some "examples" of HDR photography. Much more is possible if you have Photoshop.

This was an interesting challenge I would like to pursue further cause I think it can be very beautiful (as you will see in other entries.)

I wonder which one you prefer?

I must say that I prefer the original version, too, with BeFunky a close second. I have found HDR to be a very mixed bag. I think it is most effective with landscape shots; maybe that's why all my favorite HDR images are landscape and city scenes. Great effort, Karen! :-)

O.k. - on the first sight I immediately know which one I don't like! ;-DD
On the second view I must say the original is very beautiful and I like also the BeFunky one but the PIXLR is also not bad! And I like your idea to show this different versions!

Great idea to do this Karen. I like the PIXLR version, lovely dark tones in the bokeh, but I think I prefer the original :-)

I love the original and Befunky - as I have thought for quite some time, the PicMonkey HDR is simply too harsh, I must speak to Brenda about that!

Thanks PaulO. To be fair, the PicMonkey pic is on full slider power. I think you could get a nicer result there if you wanted.

Great idea producing a collage using different software Karen! As for which one I prefer, BeFunky gets my vote! :)

I like the original best, it's a really nice portrait of an iris, one of my favourite flowers . . .

I guess Befunky would be my choice ... though the PicMonkey version is using the default setting and you could have used the slider to bring it more in line with the other three.

Good point Norm. I didn't plan on doing a collage or I probably would have used pics that were at similar settings. The PicMonkey pic was my original choice for this challenge, but I decided to do a collage at the last minute with the other photos I had made. PicMonkey sliders were on "full power" here to show just what damage can be done with HDR. The others were very minimal as you could tell. I'm sure you could get a nicer result using less on PicMonkey.

I looked at the image I posted with Picmonkey HDR ... and while I could create a similar image ... it would not pick up the wisps of clouds I got by using three images and combining them.
