"When in doubt, shoot the trellis again." Or the roses that hang from the trellis.
I've shot so many versions of this photo over the years that posting this one seems a bit like cheating.
==========
"Time to Fill the Feeders" is what I called the 366 Snaps folder a year ago. Most of the set's pix were indeed of the bird feeders, usually with birds. All were hopelessly busy photographs, in focus but without a focal point.
But in the middle of the session I wandered around photographing flowers....
==========
I bought the Sigma 50 mm f2.8 macro lens nearly a decade ago, shortly after buying my D70. This was the first lens I bought for that camera, as the 300 mm and the 28-105mm (both Nikkor) lenses I was using had been purchased for the N90s.
I used the Sigma regularly with the D70, and for the first year I owned the D300 it was my default lens. As I've been demonstrating for the past three weeks, it's a workable general-purpose lens and a terrific macro tool.
After I bought Nikon's 16-85 mm zoom, I basically stopped using the Sigma. Using it again last October reminded me what an exceptional lens it is, but didn't convince me to use it more. So I sold the lens in early November, for nearly as many dollars as it cost me in 2004. I was shocked, but pleased.
==========
This photograph is a non-outtake from my 2012 photo-a-day project, 366 Snaps.
Number of project photos taken: 42
Title of "roll:" Time to Fill the Feeders
Other photos taken on 10/24/2012: Lots. I took nearly 600 pix in the afternoon, of milkweed, and birds, and flowers. This was the best.
