Aphrodite at The Marriage of the Virgin?
In The Tropical Gardens at Funchal, Madeira Island.
The picture in the blue plaque is on the same theme as Raphael's painting Sposalizio, the 'Marriage of the Virgin'.
The unexpected juxtaposition of these two art works here is similar to the rather strange 'contest' between the goddess Venus (=Aphrodite) and the Virgin Mary in Wagner's opera Tannhauser.
