1980 Vincennes Balloon Race

Love to see these gently flowing along with the brezzes but doubt I'd enjoy being up that high Norm. :)

We didn't fly beyond the tether line during this race. The weather forecast was not good and balloons are just like sailboats and can really gain some speed. Those that did race started out flying north, but within a few minutes they were flying back south at a high rate of speed and the lead balloon crash landed with the passenger landing on the pilot injuring him quite a bit. He did manage to show up at the after race party though.

Oh now that just sound a bit too unstable for me Norm ... glad the pilot made it to the after party ... probably need a few good stiff drinks.

I seem to remember him drinking one handed that night. I think the other was in a sling along with a couple of cracked ribs.
