My New Old Chest Of Drawers

My New Old Chest Of Drawers
I've been checking with the guy at the antique store downtown for a month or so to see if he a used chest of drawers I could get because I wanted one for my bedroom. A couple weeks ago, he got a couple in, but they weren't deep enough. I want to put my big tv on top of it so I can watch it in bed. I stopped by Saturday morning and he had just gotten in another one. He said it wasn't in the greatest of shape, but it was all wood and solid. I ended up getting it for a mere $25! That was exactly the price range I was looking for! It did need a little work - some of the drawers stuck and a few of the joints had come undone. I got it home in the back of my station wagon and went to work on it. I sanded down the sliding edge of each drawer and now they work perfectly, then got out the wood glue and fixed some of the drawers that had fallen apart. Now it's solid and I think it looks pretty good.

I let the wood glue dry overnight and on Sunday morning I filled it up with my clothes. This morning, (Monday), I had my tv on top of it and hooked it all up so that it works now. I brought a vcr into the room to play some of my tapes through it.

This is very attractive.. but lose the TV !!! (and the vcr !)

Tip for sticky drawers.. rub a simple household white candle on the edges and the runners.. problem solved !

The problem with the drawers is that the wood expanded and the drawers wouldn't quite fit like they used to. I simply sanded a little off the top and they fit great again.
