Finished Picnic Table

Finished Picnic Table
In high school shop class, this would have been around 1978, we all made a picnic table frame out of heavy steel pipes. Mine never got finished, that is painted and wood mounted for the top and the seats and it sat around doing nothing. Through the years, one of the legs came off. So, Monday, June 16th, 2014, I dug it out and re-welded the leg back on. Then I cut some boards for the top and seats and mounted the ones for the top. I didn't have carriage bolts long enough for the seats, so Tuesday I had to go to the lumber company and buy some. Also on Tuesday, I wirebrushed the metal all down and painted it with a gloss black rust inhibiting paint. Then I mounted the seats.

Yesterday, Wednesday, June 18th, 2014, I used some Minwax to stain and coat the wood so that it would be protected against the weather. Here it is in it's finished state. It weighs a ton and the boards are two inches thick - it ought to last a long time.

Congratulations for getting it finished =D Picnic table like this is great thing to have if one has a garden. But I think now you can even get it sold easily.

I placed it in the backyard, near the garden. So, it's in a good spot to start a bonfire to roast some hot dogs.
