Objects In Mirror Are Closer Than They Appear

Objects In Mirror Are Closer Than They Appear
For The Sunday Challenge group who's theme for the week was "Through The Looking Glass." I had a hectic week and couldn't come up with even a glimmer of an idea until Friday. I had a house guest staying with me all week and then a friend died unexpectedly on Wednesday. I was asked to perform the music at the funeral on Friday, so because of everything, I didn't have much time to shoot anything. I finally got some shots of the classic cars at the car show on Saturday through the side mirrors of other vehicles, but nothing I was happy with. Finally, on the way home Saturday afternoon, I thought about trying to catch the road from my passenger-side mirror. I took several, but they all tended to look alike. I felt the extra post-processing was necessary because the road itself didn't look as blurry as I thought it would. I cleaned this mirror and washed only the parts of the car that would show in the reflection because I was too tired to schlepp all the way to the car wash for a proper cleaning!

Oh, the things you have to do when you're a photographer!

I can't but laugh for that text you have on car mirrors in US =D We don't have them here, and I would find that rather disturbing =)

I had my camera mounted on a tripod in the passenger's seat and could take the picture while driving. Since it was aimed where I wanted and pretty stable, I could push the shutter with my eyes still on the road. Well, most of the time they were on the road. Ha ha!

Funny with the text, is it really like that or did you put it there?
I like the b/w with the color around it

Unfortunately, the mirror actually says that on it. It's like I'm driving a big truck or something. I don't really need it there. Next thing you know, they'll be putting words on bathroom mirrors - "object in mirror is not as good looking as he/she thinks they are."

Great idea. I saw a Harley once that had a similar, although slightly more colourful, comment about people you see in your mirrors! :)

Awww sorry about your friend Kenny. You really summed up what you can go through just to get a shot though. I spent a good part of yesterday trying to get a shot of a little bird attacking itself in my car's side view mirror, but the little guy would not cooperate with me. Finally I gave up.
