Isle of Skye,
Folder: Scotland
One of Scotland's finest islands
September Light.
Sunlight fighting the clouds above the Minch gives a strange and eerie afternoon light both to the sky and the land. Not that it bothers the sheep, they just keep on grazing.
You may need to view large to appreciate the detail
Across the Loch
On the Isle of Skye and looking across Loch Snizort to the Waternish Peninsula, the high ground in the far distance is the Duirinish Peninsula, Loch Snizort is a sea loch the mouth of which contains the Ascrib Islands and gives access to the Lower Minch.
A large view may be rewarding.
South Westerly
A storm blows across Loch Snizort and into Uig Bay.
Better large in my opinion.
Coastal Sheep Pens and fences
An image that shows the rough landscape at Duntulm in Trotternish which is the tip of the northernmost peninsula of the Isle of Skye, It looks out across The Minch to the Outer Hebrides, on a clear day of course.
Fences, gates and stone walls plus a few rocks and some autumn fern.
Not back to normal service for a few more days
Stein,
Stein was planned as a fishing village by the British Fisheries Society, and was designed by Thomas Telford in 1790, It is situated on the shore of Loch Bay which is a part of the Isle of Skye's, Waternish Peninsula,
This image shows the Stein Inn, The Captain's House and the Loch Bay Restaurant
Large if required,,,,,,,,,,,HBM and a nice week to you All
Castle Moil Ruins
The mood changed and the haze visible in the image turned into a thick sea mist that obscured the majority of the landscape only around an hour after this image was taken,
Still working from the archives, this time from 2017, Large view, perhaps.
The Black Cuillin,
Across a foreshortened Loch Scavaig from Elgol, Isle of Sky
as the sun attempts to break through the cloud layer.
The Cuillin is a range of mostly jagged rocky mountains on the Isle of Skye in Scotland. The main Cuillin ridge is also called the Black Cuillin to distinguish it from the Red Cuillin which lie to the east of Glen Sligachan.
The house on the far shore gives an idea of size
Please view large.
Harbour Light
Evening light over the harbour at Kyleakin, Isle of Skye. The higher ground across the narrows of Kyle Akin is the mainland at Kyle of Lochalsh,
This was the island ferry terminal before the building of the Skye bridge
Possibly better large
Maratime Matters
Kyleakin Lighthouse is situated at the south-western end of Eilean Bàn (The six-acre island that supports part of the Skye Bridge). It was built by David and Thomas Stevenson in 1857, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skye_Bridge
The Skye Bridge was opened in October 1995 and replaced the Calmac ferry service Between Kyle of Lochalsh and Kyleakin
The land in the misty distance is the Isle of Skye. And a musical link www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYWp4BRIbqA
