The Red Tower

For over six centuries, The church of St Mary the Virgin, has been the focal point of the village of Stogumber, The tower which was begun in the fourteenth century, is built of red sandstone, but differing styles indicate church extensions over the years! Stogumber is a village and civil parish in Somerset, England, on the eastern flank of the Brendon Hills. It also has a station on the West Somerset Railway. A large view for detail! Captured on a dull and overcast September day, HWW to one and all!

Pre Reformation! HWW!

St Mary's old church & cemetery, Kilmuir, Dunvegan, Isle of Skye. The church was built in 1694 -- the date is inscribed on a stone over the north door -- to replace an older medieval church that served as the parish church for the Duirinish region of northern Skye. The most striking memorial inside the burial ground is a large ashlar obelisk commemorating Lord Thomas Fraser, 10th Lord Lovat, who died in 1699 For clarity, a large view would be appreciated, HWW! A look forward to Summer,

Boats await the return of the tide, which has left for a few hours, HFF and a nice weekend Porlock Weir on the Somerset Coast, (Where Exmoor meets the Sea) Large perhaps! Awful weather down here in the South West, with no chance of a New Year image for a while yet!
