Hurdy House

Halsway manor was held in 1086 by Roger de Courcelles with Alric, the owner in 1066, as his tenant. The manor passed through many owners down to 1960, (mentioned in the Doomsday Book)

Now It is the only residential folk centre in the UK. This week it hosts The 5th Big Hurdy-Gurdy event!

Very impressive looking architecture, and I wish my lawn looked that good!. It looks beautiful with the trees behind it and what looks like a lovely garden.

As always, I view large, and it's no surprise that the detail is superb Roger! I like the colours and texture in the stonework which seems to be ageing very nicely.

I also like the colourful panel in the pathway.

Every time they built an addition to the manor they changed styles, but the mix works quite well in my opinion,
Back in 1968 I worked for many weeks in the manor and particularly remember the ballroom with an exquisite Minstrels gallery!

The problem with these historic places is the design and care needed, therefore everything takes longer and cost quite a bit more than normal!
