Glenelg Ferry, HFF

Quite an exhilarating trip to the Isle of Skye across the Kylerea Narrows especially when the tide is running as at peak tides speeds of over 10knots have been measured,
The m/v Glenachulish worked the crossing of Loch Leven at Ballachulish from 1969 to 1975 before the building of the bridge made her redundant, the ferry has worked this crossing since 1982.
She is the last ferry in the world to operate with a full deck turntable, See PIP

It looks very smart and colourful. I like Glenelg but have never crossed on the ferry. Heard there was a sea eagle who hung around there and sometimes got given fish.

THank you Jean, you are correct about the sea eagle I have it recorded from the tv at some point seals also appear, It is a really steep climb up once you land on Skye.
