Cornish Rivera Express.

Cornish Rivera Express.
One of a number of slides dated 1985, It's not stood the test of time well but it shows ex GWR Hall and a Manor both sadly unidentifiable however the coaches and engine carry Cornish Rivera Express boards so I assume from the date and the number of people hanging out of the windows that this was a return trip of a special of some kind.
The train is running down the bank into Bridgwater Station from Somerset Bridge and passing the Colley lane sidings in the forground.

I am now informed that the likely combination is 7827 Lydham Manor and 4930 Hagley Hall

Wow Roger the aging of the slide gives this real authenticity to theme of the shot, I was going to suggest a new group "Ask an Expert" to ID your engines but see you were already in and have a resulting ID. Be nice to see some of your work from the time of this slide.

Thank you Maurice, a long way around but I was searching for a slide of a post box and found this and was then totally distracted, I am in between everything else working my way through hundreds of slides but I may now have find find a way to copy them to the computer.

Sorry Christiane I missed this bit,
I need to acquire a new Scanner with a slide attachment, that will then convert my slides into photographs.

O.K. Roger. Yes, we have something like that here, but I really thought that you had found an OTHER way to do the job (:o)). Tell you why.
In the past, I was using this kind of machine to scan old photographs too, but I found a quickest way to do it. I just photography the old photographs and get them on my camera. No need to connect and use the special machine. Maybe one day I will find something to scan the slides too (:o)).
Have a nice week end, my dear friend.

FOR ME, WONDERFUL!
Why?
Because some very earliest and happiest memories were of me traveling down to Penzance on the Cornish Riviera Express in the early 1960s (smoke in our eyes, hair and clothes notwithstanding) with my grandmother. About twice a year. I can't remember the intricate family convolutions that led me to be shunted between Bakewell in Derbyshire, Hanwell near London and Zennor in Cornwall on a regular basis but I relished every change of scenery and atmosphere!

It is a terrific historical record, Roger, even if the slide quality has lessened somewhat. Nice train shot ( I love trains)

Nice one Roger. The slide quality gives the image a nice atmosphere of place and time, that together with a good perspective makes for a fine image.

Thank you Rainer, they were coasting down the bank and slowing for the station, not a good vantage point for smoke and steam
