Saturday challenge - Something from the garden
in our garden. Noticed that in my 366 daily photos so far this month I have only included one flower. It must be a record. This is the second.

Sunday challenge - What is it?
Greek "Owls" were first struck in Athens around 500 BC...Athena's symbol, the owl, now an international symbol of wisdom. The letters 'AOE'--or more precisely, "Alpha Theta Epsilon" or "Athe"--form an abbreviation of "Athens".
Version of a paper clip. One side is a raised replica of the 4th century temple, Parthenon. The Parthenon symbolises power and influence. The other side is a raised replica of the ancient 7th century symbol of an owl and olive branch that brings wealth and good luck.

Took a second minimal version :-) the flowers are a bit busy, coastal wattle, flowering everywhere now. Then saw Marj's post, should be CLEAR GLASS... off to take ANOTHER photo... Here it is...

Saturday challenge - Patriotism
I was born in England, but have lived more years in Australia. Still miss the old country, but very much an Aussie now.
Other people have posted sad stories of the past, for this week's topic. We have all been affected by the wars. My Grandfather served in WWI, and was sent to Mesopotamia, not knowing what was happening in other parts, marched incessantly in the British Army there, and was lucky to survive. One of his brothers was killed in action at Loos in Belgium, age 19. My Grandmother's young brother was killed in 1916 on HMS Invincible at the Battle of Jutland, age 17. My Father served in the British Army in WWII, was sent to North Africa late 1942, in the campaign against Rommel. Then his unit moved to Italy, where they lost many, at the Battle of Monte Cassino, in 1944. Dad was lucky to survive. My Mother's brother was killed on the front line in France in 1944, at the Falaise Gap in Normandy, age 20. All were doing their duty for their country.

Dora reluctantly agreed to pose for a minute or two :-)
This chair is part of a lounge suite we bought in 1983 at the World of Leather in the UK. It has had the seats re upholstered, the armrests have new leather, and it is in great shape for its age.

Saturday challenge... bright, bold colours, filling the frame, abstract or real.
A good topic for today, as my husband was in for day surgery, a cataract in his right eye. All good, and he can see better already. His left eye is fine, so he is very pleased.

A rainforest walk from Hallidays Point leads to this lookout. We first went to the whale watch lookout and did actually see a distant whale spouting. Afterwards to the village for some groceries.
'The first authentic European record of the area comes from the diaries of Captain Cook, who sailed along the coastline in the 'Endeavour' in May 1770 and named Cape Hawke as he passed.'

Met our friends for lunch at this favourite cafe, in a great location, at Montville in Queensland. Monday 16th March.
Now 21st March... While indoor gatherings of fewer than 100 people are still allowed, the new guidelines say there needs to be at least four square metres available for every person in the area.

Mograni lookout

Dull day for our drive along the amazingly scenic Bucketts Way, New South Wales, Australia
When arriving at Gloucester from the east, Mograni Lookout is a grandstand for one of the best views in the Barrington Coast... Mograni Lookout is on the high ridge overlooking Gloucester, just before the Bucketts Way descends into the valley. On the left is the Mograni Range and below lies the town of Gloucester nestled on a quiet bend of the Gloucester River beneath the Buccan Buccans (the Bucketts Mountains).
The Gloucester River is born as a rugged mountain stream high in Barrington Tops but transforms to a calm and beautiful waterway passing verdant farmland in its lower reaches. It lends a lot of this beauty to the township of Gloucester where it's joined by the Barrington River and Avon River, in the valley below

A walk on the beach with our dogs.
View to Razorback at Black Head, from Red Head, New South Wales.
A small headland separates Diamond Beach from Shelly Beach. Red Head forms the southern boundary. It is composed of 250 million year old red shales interbedded with thin layers of volcanic ash together with fossil land plant remains (beachsafe.org.au). Further south is Black Head Beach, named after the Irish birthplace (Black Head, Antrim) of the first settler William Hoy, who moved to Black Head, New South Wales, around 1881.
