This was taken outside the square proper, which is on the other side of the ramp. The ramp leads to the deck on the second storey of New City Hall.

In the background is Norwich Castle. The stone keep was built around the turn of the 12th century. It replaced a timber keep built in 1067 (Norwich was one of the largest cities in England then, and soon after his invasion William acted to secure it).

The interesting shadows are being cast by Santiago Calatrava's canopy over the entrance to his atrium at Brookfield Place, in which even more shadows are cast.

More people posing with the Toronto sign at Nathan Phillips Square.
When they first put up the sign I didn't understand the logic behind it, since anybody who visited there would know they were in Toronto already, but I guess someone's logic was sounder than mine.
I do understand people posing on the sign, though. That's cool.

The big view is grainy but I like it better (click the pic or type Z to see if you agree).
The PiP on the right edge of the photo shows my reflection, and by deduction how much I cropped this. That and some relentless sharpening probably accounts for the grain.

An old photo re-edited.
I think I could have done a little more re-editing but I got bored.
Another re-working is in the PiP at top left.
