Happy Wednesday Wall!

Happy Wednesday Wall!
The mural is the "Cabbagetown Neighbours Heritage Mural", by Michael Cavanaugh and Poonam Sharma. The Liquor Control Board of Ontario both co-sponsored the mural and defaced it with its parking sign.

Will S., Andrew Trundlewagon, Patrick Brandy, Gudrun and 5 other people have particularly liked this photo

They're a very pleasant alternative in a city that's primarily grey and dark green, Jaap.

The worst offender here is the transit system, though, Isabel. Several subway stations have large, donated works of art that they post on constantly. I once was able to inform a Portuguese artist that they had posted a sign on her tile mural, and they quickly removed tg\he sign when she complained.

At least they removed it…

But they just keep on doing it, Isabel. One of the works (a light installation) they managed to destroy through neglect.

A colourful wall and as usual a perfectly composed photo.
Haha, that could have been our town putting that sign there, administrations all over the world obviously lack any aesthetic sense;-)
Belated HWW!

Thanks, Gudrun. Yes, Toronto isn't the only municipal offender

Great photo, everything really hangs together, the diagonal shadow, the packing cases and the mural. And what a delicious irony for the liquor board to vandalize its own artwork; another case of the left hand not knowing (caring?) what the right hand does. Classic.

Thanks, Andrew. As I mentioned to Isabel, the Toronto Transit Commission loves to post things on several major art works that have been donated to it.
