The Buy & Sell #3

The Buy & Sell #3
The Buy & Sell was a junk shop on St. Clair Avenue West in Toronto. I have posted two photos of its front window before (shown in the PiPs at top left), but have never named the store. It was a remarkable place, crammed full of items of every type. A review of it I once read recommended taking a pair of gloves and a hard hat when you visited. The B & S also provided some great deals to compensate for problems like having to climb over the stock. Now I find that it closed after I left Toronto, and these three photographs are my tribute to it.

Andrew Trundlewagon, Gudrun, Nouchetdu38, Keith Burton and 6 other people have particularly liked this photo

This is what I would call a bric-a-brac shop.............and they're great for browsing around all sorts of stuff. I get a lot of my "props" for tabletop photography in these sorts of shops.

A smashing little set of photos John...........I could spend hours in there!

Complete with french horn! I suspect I could have found treasures there. But too late.

Our town's one dry cleaning establishment is closing in a couple of days. One about fifteen miles away has been recommended. I sure hope someone recognized the opportunity for making a modest living and opens another one.

They once had a saxophone but no mouthpiece. I suspect that may been a problem with the French horn, too. This place has been replaced by a real estate agent's. They follow the gentry. I suspect the gentry would have preferred the junk shop. There used to be several coffee shops, restaurants, etc., along St. Clair where the newly arrived gentry mixed quite amicably with the remaining non-gentry.

Yes, it is. I suspect the rent went up (the street is being gentrified). I never thought I'd see a doggie spa or a cupcake shop on St. Clair, but I have now.

A pity it has closed down... These are "dangerous" shops as you always find something;-)

Interesting place. What a shame it has closed. The doll in the first PiP is rather terrifying,

My first thought about the doll was "here's a window with a doll's corpse in it." Which of course justifies a photo.
