The subdued, almost monochrome palette and slight touch of posterization (?) complement this. And it makes me look at the objects carefully somehow. But the graffiti teases me - does it say "arid?" "Biro?" Somewhat different message between those two. Anyway, I like it, for what that's worth.

Thanks, Bob. No posterizing was done, but it does have that look. I'm guessing BRIO for the throw-up, but maybe just because I'm a fan of the local soft drink of that name.

It's the very blandness of this place that draws me in..........and the beginnings of decay, the cracked plaster on the wall, the rust starting to form of the metalwork, the recently removed graffiti. The picnic bench seems a bit superfluous - surely that's not the sort of place someone would sit and eat? A smoker's area perhaps with the concrete bin for cigarette ends?

It keeps us guessing John, which is great! Well observed and taken.

The deterioration of the bland was something I was thinking about when I took the shot, Keith, but I hadn't thought about the implications of this being a smoking area. That is what I think it is, because there is a place to put out your butts but none in which to deposit your lunch waste. And as a place to eat it's even less attractive than you can tell here. I've never seen any evidence of smoking there, either.
