Yes, sadly ipernity compresses images when you upload them, making them less sharp. Our friend Bob and I did a comparison some time ago of the same image, large size, on Flickr and ipernity, and there clearly was a difference. Having said that, I still refuse to go back to Flickr ... I think the community here is nicer.

Strange things go on at Flickr, too, Sarah -- for example, you'll get large numbers of faves but no one will leave a comment. They've reduced the size of the thumbnails under the photo, but they still are a distraction that I believe weakens the photo's composition. I do get explored more often there, though, so maybe my composition needs attention distracted from it.

I still post occasionally there to keep in touch with people there, but I intend to keep posting more shots here.

Thanks, Keith. As I was saying to Gerard, the leaves aren't as colourful this year, but I guess there are photographic advantages to that.
