Im Luberon gibt es zahlreiche Bergdörfer. Eines davon ist Gordes. Auf einen Felsvorsprung oberhalb des Flußes Calavon gelegen zählt es zu den "Plus beaux villages de France". Den besten Blick auf den Ort hat man von etwas außerhalb an einem kleinen Felsplateau. Im Ort ist dann das Château und die typisch gepflasterten Gasse, auch "calades" genannt, zu bestaunen.
